The restrictions don't really end up met since most of the enemies/assets using the black pixels can appear above ground and would use the light blue in that spot. That being said, dig the style. The level of shading on a lot of the sprites is reminiscent of the all stars sprites, which I always enjoyed.

SuperPhil64 responds:

I kinda knew that going in. Figured it would be more fun having the extra black color than being accurate.

It's canceled? Damn. Some of these are all-timers. Never understood how you got that wave looking so real.

LakenDaCoda responds:

Just looked at a real wave. I can't find what picture I used for reference, but it was likely this one:

Also, only canceled in the sense that I've dropped this version of it. I may revisit the idea some time in the future.

Love the style! Gotta give 5 starts for the iconic Guts Man's Ass pose.

Immediate 5-star for looking really cool and factoring in NES palette and sprite limitations. Idk if it could actually display, but it sure looks accurate! Tenouttaten!

Tyrannee responds:

It's always fun coming up with ways to factor in the NES's limited capabilities against a more modern system such as making Sectonia's wings a solid colour. I ended up learning a lot about different expansion chips like the MMC5 allowing palettes to be per 8x8 tile instead of 16x16.

No way, was that you that made that video?? That looks like the same door and everything. I watched that as a kid and you just unlocked the memory.

Joschurale responds:

I was not the person who made that video though yeah it's also an early memory for me lol

Bonzi Buddy

Poggersch!!

Woah that's Joe Hawley from the hit solo album Joe Hawley Joe Hawley. Well done!

I feel like I like these more than the official ones. They're more distinct and recognizable as individuals while still maintaining a similar clown aesthetic and color scheme. I also like that there's sort of elements of McDonald's food items in there. Unsure if you tried it but Donna's hair reminds me of a burger bun, Molly's reminds me of french fries, and Ronnie's looks like McNuggets.

MunchJrGames responds:

I was gunning for Molly's hair to look like fries. I wanted to make them yellow as well, but I wanted the children to have the opposite hair of their parents.

Nice theory about the hair shapes, I'm gonna run with that if I draw these guys again. By that logic I assume Ronald's hair would look like a patty. I had a pretty hard time trying to come up with clowny hairstyles. Donna ended up having hair that looked kind of like the Golden Arches, so I ran with that by giving her a little fringe for the point.
